I've been doing Weight Watchers for a year and a half and lost 50 pounds but gained a little (just a bit) back and now need to reach my goal. Unfortunately the journey of weight loss is so difficult. It really involves so much self control and it is hard to have self control when you love lots of good food, good wine, good beer and YUM!! --desserts. My journey is a long one. I thought it would be over by now. WRONG!! I love food too much. I do have some discipline but my body doesn't want to listen when I say, "Ignore I just ate 2 ounces instead of one ounce of that cheese!" Ugh! Bodies! I have never been a size 2 nor do I want to be but I would like to be comfortable in my own skin. I am almost there and plan on staying but I am being challenged lately. No sure what to do. What is the best exercise? That seems to be my downfall. I need a good exercise to help me lose and also to enjoy myself. I like running but am not good at it. I like yoga but can't find a good class. Help!!
Have you heard of the Coach to 5K Program? (if not, just google it!) I'm NOT a runner, and I never have been - and, I've always hated running.. but this program was amazing! It's easy because you start out slow and you always run/jog at your own pace so it's low-stress! I couldn't believe it when I was halfway through the program, running 8 minutes at a time, then 10, then 15, then 20... then, it's like you feel like you could run forever! You can even get an app for your mp3 player that talks to you! ('begin jogging... slow to a fast walking pace', etc. etc.)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I have a hard time finding exercise anything but BORING so it was amazing I was able to keep up with this, but.. I did, and now I'm (sorta) a runner! Good luck.
p.s. who in their right minds can eat just ONE cube of cheese in one sitting?!
If you decide to do the coach to 5K you might also think about signing up for a 5k race. It might sound overwhelming, but you could certainly work yourself up to a 5k. Better yet, you will feel amazing when you finish it. I enjoy running, but races keep me inspired to work towards something. That keeps me motivated each week. It also helps if the race is a fundraiser for a good cause. That's added incentive.
ReplyDeleteGive it a shot! Don't aim to win or judge yourself by anyone else's standards of what makes a good runner. Just do it to proof to yourself that you can. No matter what your pace is, you will feel accomplished when you cross that finish line! You'll also inspire your son by showing him what dedication can achieve.
Go for it!!!!
